The 7 Best Moments from Dirty Dancing

With its cult following and never-ending appeal, Dirty Dancing is up there with some of the best feel-good films in movie history. We’ve all seen it more times than we can count on both hands and will continue to rely on its fab 80s soundtrack to cheer us up and will never stop trying to re-enact that famous lift.

Without further ado, here are our best moments from Dirty Dancing that we still love to this day!

1. “Come Here, Lover Boy”

We’re jumping straight into the saucy stuff. It’s that famous scene after we are reunited with the lovebirds the morning after a night in Johnny’s cabin. Wit woo!

There’s nothing quite like cha-cha-ing away in the dance studio with your new secret fella while all the other guests – including your parents – enjoy some extremely family-friendly lawn dancing and a spot of volleyball outside. G’wed.

Did you know this scene was completely improvised? Patrick and Jennifer were caught warming up for the scene and were just messing around when the director decided it would make the cut.

2. Johnny Setting the Record Straight

…and also providing us with one of the most quotable lines in cinematic history.

3. *That* Lake Scene

Giphy

Not only do they have dance practice in the middle of a lake, but the valuable lesson of balance and core strength is taught by dancing on a tree trunk which has very conveniently fallen at a height next to a very picturesque meadow.

4. The Sacred Bridge of Secrecy

Carrying the ever-growing entity that is Baby’s womanhood and confidence? Your bridge could NEVER! This bridge serves not only as a backdrop to some secret solo dance practices, but also provides the catwalk for some of the finest outfits Kellerman’s Resort has ever seen.

5. Where’s Lisa’s Beige. Iridescent. Lipstick?

Tenor

Props to Lisa for branching out into some of the most avant-garde makeup lewks that conservative holiday resort has experienced thus far. Iconic.

6. Baby Carrying Loads of Random Objects

The watermelon. The endless weight of her parent’s expectations. A…live…chicken?

7. THE LIFT

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment we are waiting for every time we watch this film. It never gets old! Every time, we find ourselves fretting over whether they’ll make it or not.

How will this go down? Will she forget everything he’s taught her? Wait…is he gonna drop her?

But then it happens, and it’s still the best feeling ever. Cue us shout-singing Time of Your Life and crying into our popcorn.
